In-Depth Guide

Yelans strength comes from two unique mechanics: ramping burst damage and team damage amplification. Her burst gains 3.5% more damage per second over 15 seconds, reaching a 50% damage increase at full duration. Her A4 passive increases the active characters damage by 1% for every 10 seconds of burst duration (also up to 50%). This means Yelans value INCREASES over the course of combat - longer rotations disproportionately favor her. This is why she pairs so well with Hu Tao (long on-field time) and is less impactful in quick-swap teams. Building Yelan requires balancing HP, ER, and CRIT. Unlike most characters, Yelan gains nothing from ATK - her damage scales purely on HP. The ER requirement depends on her weapon: with Favonius Warbow, she needs 160-180% ER as solo Hydro. With Elegy for the End, 180-200%. With Aqua Simulacra, she needs 140-160% if paired with another Hydro unit. Her E skill is one of the best mobility tools in the game, allowing her to cover large distances quickly. This is useful both in combat (repositioning) and overworld traversal. The skill also generates a significant amount of energy particles. Where she struggles: As solo Hydro, Yelans ER requirements are punishing. Her damage also falls off significantly without proper investment in HP artifacts, which are harder to farm than traditional ATK-based artifacts. She also cannot replace Xingqiu in teams that need his damage reduction and interrupt resistance.
