Raiden Shogun Build Guide

Raiden Shogun is an Electro Sub-DPS who excels at energy regeneration and providing huge burst damage on a team-wide scale.

Why This Build Works

Raiden's damage scales with ER through A4 passive — each 1% ER above 100% gives 0.4% Electro DMG. At 270% ER she gains 68% Electro DMG Bonus from passive alone.

Key Stat Threshold

220% ER minimum, 270% optimal with Engulfing Lightning. Below 200% ER kills both damage and team energy refund.

Current Meta Status

S-tier. Fits Hypercarry, National, and Hyperbloom. Universal value.

Gameplay Strategy

Raiden Shogun functions best as a Sub-DPS. The key to mastering this character is understanding how their kit interacts with the current abyss meta. Below are the critical gameplay patterns you need to know.

Rotation Tips

E (Skill) → Q (Burst) of supports → Raiden Q → N3C combo

Team Synergy

Battery & Burst DPS — provides energy and massive burst damage. In practice, this means pairing them with characters that complement their strengths and cover their weaknesses.

Optimize substats for perfect ratio. Sacrifice HP/DEF for more offensive stats.

Summary: Is Raiden Shogun Worth Building?

Raiden Shogun is an Electro Sub-DPS who excels at energy regeneration and providing huge burst damage on a team-wide scale. With the right investment, Raiden Shogun performs at a 9.5/10 — one of the best units in the game, flexible in many teams. level in current content.

When NOT to use this character

Avoid if your team doesn't rely on burst rotation. Underperforms in quick-swap teams. Fischl provides comparable off-field Electro at lower investment cost.

Community Controversy

Some argue C2 Raiden is overrated — C0 National clears Abyss just as fast as C2 Hypercarry in most cycles.

In-Depth Guide

Raiden Shogun is often misunderstood as just a burst DPS, but her real value comes from being an energy cycle engine for the entire team. When building her, the single most important stat is Energy Recharge - not just because her burst needs energy, but because her A4 passive converts every point of ER above 100% into Electro DMG Bonus. At 270% ER (achievable with Engulfing Lightning and ER sands), she gains 68% Electro DMG from this passive alone, plus another 60%+ from the Emblem of Severed Fate set bonus. In combat, the key to maximizing Raiden is rotation discipline. The standard setup is Raiden E -> support bursts -> Raiden Q -> N3C combo. Her skill (E) provides coordinated attacks that boost burst damage for all party members. Never use her burst first - always apply buffs from Bennett, Sara, or Kazuha before switching to Raiden. Raiden National (Raiden + Xiangling + Xingqiu + Bennett) is the most consistent team in the game because everyone batteries everyone else. Xiangling and Xingqiu get energy from Raiden, and Raiden gets resolve stacks from their bursts. This creates a seamless energy loop that requires minimal ER on supports. Where she struggles: Raiden underperforms in quick-swap teams that dont rely on burst rotations, or against enemies that move out of her burst range frequently. Against multi-wave content, her energy refund mechanic becomes less valuable because waves reset rotation cycles.
